Summer Photos

Journal:
I have improved on working more to get the shot that I want. I achieved better results with my photos by playing around with the settings on my camera and being more patient, and waiting for the right shot. I think doing the journals last year helped me a lot, because when I was looking through magazines for pictures, I got an idea of what professional photographs look like and how to make photographs visually interesting. I love to take pictures of wildlife and nature. When I researched Ansel Adams last year his work inspired me to take more pictures of nature. His photographs captured the beauty and innocence of nature. He inspired me not only to take photographs that show the beauty of nature but also that are timeless.

"Close up of Palm Tree"
I took this because I was curious about what a palm tree looked like when I got very close.  I used a digital camera to take this photo. It is a close up and also has horizontal lines.

"Dolphin Run"
I went on a dolphin/ whale watching tour and this is one of the many pictures that I took. I put the camera on continuous mode to get this shot. A digital camera was used.
"Overlooking Laguna Beach"
I took this picture because I had my camera out and I suddenly turned and the bird flew right into the shot and at that moment I took the photo. A digital camera was used.

"Lighthouse outside of San Pedro"
While on a ferry going to Catalina I noticed the lighthouse and I thought that I looked really cool with the clouds so I took the photo. This was taken with a digital camera.

"Sunset in Santa Monica"
I was on the pier in Santa Monica and I thought that the color of the sky was beautiful and it is complemented by the ocean and the sand. This was a long exposure. A digital camera was used.
"The Hood over Mt.Hood"
I was walking along with my friends and noticed that the clouds had formed a hood over Mt. Hood in Oregon so I took out my phone and got this shot. This was taken with my phone.

"View from Mt Hood"
While waiting at the start of our course on Mt.Hood I noticed that we were high enough up that it appears that you can see the curvature of the Earth. This was taken with my phone. This uses rule of thirds.
"Framing of Multnomah Falls"
I went to Multnomah Falls and I wanted to take a different style picture so I used the stone railing on the bridge to frame the upper part of Multnomah. This picture was taken with a digital camera. I used framing and it is also balanced.
"Oregon Trail"
I went with my mom to hike a piece of the Oregon Trail and these stairs were the first part. I like how you can't see where the stairs end so it looks like they keep going. I used leading lines and vertical lines. This was taken with a digital camera.

"Mother and Duckling"
I also took this picture while hiking. My mom and I stopped at this lake and I saw all of the ducklings following their mother and then she hopped on a log and they all followed her. I used a digital camera.
"Finale"
I took this at the finale of the Paul McCartney concert I went to this summer. I like how bright the stage is, and how everything else is pitch black. This has a strong center of interest. This was taken with a digital camera.
"Peach Orchard"
I went peach picking in Maryland and I thought the way the fields looked was very interesting. This has leading lines. This was taken with a digital camera.

"American Flag in a Cloudy Sky"
I noticed this flag waving around and right as it showed the stripes I took the photo and I thought that it would look cool black and white so I edited the picture. This was taken with a digital camera.

"Sunset over D.C."
I was in D.C. and I wanted to get a picture of the sunset so I waited until the sun was  right at the building and then I took the shot as the boat passed by. I used exposure compensation to underexpose the photo so all of the colors of the sunset are visible. I also slightly enhanced the photo. This was taken with a digital camera.

"Reflection of Clouds"
I went to great falls and found a little area that was away from everyone and I loved how the clouds and the trees reflected into the water. I used a fast shutter speed so the picture was not overexposed. I took this with a digital camera.
